Dudley boards weigh regional health insurance, alcohol license, and project reviews

Dudley town boards took up a range of business this week, from a proposed restaurant alcohol license and regional health insurance participation to development reviews and zoning matters. All meeting minutes were not yet available at press time.

Board of Selectmen

On June 29, the Board of Selectmen held a public hearing on a new all-alcohol restaurant license for KYRILLOS LLC at 4-14 Airport Road. The board was also scheduled to vote on joining the Southern Worcester County Health Insurance Group (SWCHIG) and on filing for State Revolving Fund updates for the Water Service Line Inventory. Other items included a request from the Black Tavern Historical Society to use the Town Common on Oct. 3 for its 13th annual craft fair; discussion and a possible vote on reserving a lower parking lot for veterans and seniors from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and a conversation about a supplemental budget for the October Special Town Meeting. An extension request for the Government Study Committee was also on the agenda.

Planning Board

At its June 24 meeting, the Planning Board was set to reorganize its membership and review an Approval Not Required application for a project at 77 West Main Street submitted by Alex Apostol. The board also planned to receive status reports on unaccepted subdivision streets in the Pierpont, Country View, Lyons, and Rocky Hill Estates developments, and to schedule site plan inspections for Legacy Landing, the SEP Solar facility on Oxford Avenue, and Stevens Mill. Consultant voucher approvals were also on the table.

Conservation Commission

The Conservation Commission met June 24 with three items: a Determination of Applicability to see if a project at 52 Center Road requires a permit; a Certificate of Compliance for 2 Carroll Drive related to Diamond Communications; and action on an Enforcement Order for 3 Interval Circle.

Zoning Board of Appeals

On July 2, the Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing on a variance request for a 6-foot setback reduction for a proposed deck at 16 Lakeview Ave. The board was also expected to vote on moving its regular meeting time from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and to approve minutes from its April 2 session.

Government Study Committee

The Government Study Committee met June 30 to review and discuss its draft report and to consider any other related actions.

Coming up

The Historical Commission will meet on July 7. Its agenda includes a demolition permit application for a garage at 15 Green Street, as well as discussions on the USA 250 celebration and on recent and upcoming town events.
