Fond du Lac City Council to consider $12.1 million sewer bonds; county board mulls land information director
Fond du Lac’s city and county boards met over the past two weeks to take up a range of proposals, including major infrastructure financing, new alcohol licenses, and subdivision approvals. None of the meetings had final minutes published as of July 5, meaning all actions remain proposed or under discussion.
County Board
The Fond du Lac County Board on June 23 considered the appointment of Dean Kaderabek as Director of Land Information. The board also reviewed Resolution 20-26 authorizing the issuance of Bond 2026A GOPNs and two budget adjustments: Resolution 21-26 for salary and wage fringe, and Resolution 22-26 for DHS Income Maintenance FSQC funding. A presentation by Tom Weber on jail operational planning, bed forecasting, and alternatives to incarceration was heard. The board additionally agreed to refer Resolution 23-26 (Chapter 42 amendment) back to committee.
City Council
The City Council held two meetings during the period. On June 24, members considered Resolution No. 9246 approving the final plat of Hidden Valley Phase 2 subdivision, along with final annual alcohol beverage license renewals and a review of city rules for two-wheel transportation. A recognition ceremony for the Police Department’s fallen officers was also held.
On July 2, the council took up items including authorizing up to $12,135,000 in taxable sewerage system revenue bonds (Series 2026B) and $3,265,000 (Series 2026A). Members also considered alcohol licenses for Martina’s (1305 S Main St), Sushitale (525 N Peters Ave), and VendiCards (49 N Main St), and a special event permit for alcohol sales in Buttermilk Creek Park during the Shakespeare in the Park Festival. Traffic ordinance changes were proposed, including a no-left-turn restriction on Wettstein Avenue at Stow Street and South Brooke Street, and bus loading zones on Walker Street, East 13th Street, and Wabash Avenue. Presentations on the 2027 initial budget forecast and the Fire Department budget were given. Appointments to the Library Board, Plan Commission, and Historic Preservation Commission were also on the agenda.
Other Committees
The Alcohol Licensing Committee on June 30 considered new licenses for Martina’s, Sushitale, and VendiCards (same businesses as before the council), plus temporary picnic licenses for the Fond du Lac County Fair (July 14–19), the Shakespeare in the Park Festival (Aug 27–29), and the Fondue Fest (Aug 12).
The Downtown Architectural Review Board on July 1 reviewed two exterior alteration proposals: painting at 113-117 S Main St (Zacherl, O’Malley, Endejean S.C and Main Street Fashion) and exterior changes at 272 and 280 N Main St (Death’s Decor Tattoo Gallery/Adam Mumper).
Both the Police & Fire Commission and the Board of Appeals cancelled their July meetings. The Police & Fire Commission tentatively rescheduled for August 13; the Board of Appeals for August 3.
