Deer Park City Council Tackles Budget, Bond Sales, and Industrial Agreements in Busy Week

Budget Discussions Begin
The City Council met in workshops on June 22 and June 23 to review the proposed FY 2026-2027 budget. The discussions covered all city funds, revenues, expenditures, and districts. Fire Control District Budget
On July 6, the Deer Park Fire Control District board will vote to approve the FY 2026-2027 district budget and forward it to the City Council for final adoption. Board of Adjustment
Also on July 6, the Board of Adjustment will hold public hearings on three property variance requests:
- A 4-foot rear building line variance at 1905 N. Wildflower Drive.
- A 4-foot accessory building height variance for a pool house at 2040 Oklahoma Avenue.
- A variance to construct an unattached carport at 325 Helen Drive.
The board will also schedule a future public hearing for a height variance request at 1201 E. Pasadena Boulevard, to be heard on August 3.
Planning & Zoning Commission
On July 6, the Planning & Zoning Commission will consider calling for a public hearing on a Specific Use Permit request from 2801 P Street LLC. The permit would allow a truck yard laydown yard at 2851 E. P Street.
Crime Control District
Later on July 6, the Crime Control District board will consider approving the FY 2026-2027 budget, a quarterly expenditure plan for July through September 2026, and the third quarter financial report for FY 2025-2026. All would be forwarded to the City Council.
City Council Workshop
On July 7, the City Council will hold a workshop to discuss an update on the B112 03 01 E001 Ditch Project with Harris County and the sale of Series 2026 Certificates of Obligation. The council will also recognize departing Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Jacob Zuniga and issue a proclamation for Parks and Recreation Month 2026.
City Council Regular Meeting
Immediately following the workshop on July 7, the City Council will vote on several items:
- A $188,640 refuse bag contract with Houston Poly-Bag.
- Release of $346,898.56 in retainage for the Deer Park Terrace Street Reconstruction.
- Authorization to issue Certificates of Obligation, Series 2026.
- Approval of Industrial District Agreements covering 2027 through 2041.
- Scheduling a public hearing on All-Star Activity Program standards for August 4.
