Build the February 9, 2026, Regular School Board Meeting Agenda -
Superintendent Dr. Lewton addressed the Board. He introduced Brittany Lanham, the new Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and School Board. The Board reviewed the agenda draft for Monday, March 9 th regular School Board meeting.
Under his report, Dr. Lewton will provide the most current Kindergarten enrollment numbers.
Dr. Lewton will also discuss the staff appreciation and retirement celebration lunch in May.

The Dickinson Public School Board held a special meeting on March 3, 2026 at the Professional Learning Lab. Board members present were President Michelle Orton, Board Member Brent Seaks, and Board Member David Wilkie. Also present were Superintendent Dr. Marcus Lewton, Assistant Superintendent Melanie Kathrein, Assistant Superintendent Keith Harris, Business Manager Stephanie Hunter, Communications Director Sarah Trustem, School Board Secretary, Lenée Bookhardt, and School Board Secretary Brittany Lanham.
Call to Order – Board President Michelle Orton called the meeting to order at noon.
School Board Election Date – Board Member David Wilkie made a motion to schedule the upcoming school board election on Tuesday, June 09, 2026, in conjunction with the city/county/primary election. The Stark County and Dunn County polling locations will be considered by the Board after it has been established by the Stark and Dunn County auditors. The terms for Board President Michelle Orton, Board Vice President Kim Schwartz, and Board Member Jason Rodakowski all expire June 30, 2026. Mr. Seaks seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken on the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

Under the Superintendent’s report, Dr. Lewton will highlight the certified teacher of the year (Peter Fritz at Prairie Rose Elementary) and classified staff member of the year (Elizabeth Schmitt at Heart River Elementary). Marathon Petroleum provided both individuals gas gift cards.

Also shared was that the first Calendar Committee meeting would be on January 8, 2026, for the 2026-2027 school year. There are three options for the committee to review. Dr. Lewton will request to the committee the addition of a snow day to calendar. The current plan is to have a proposed school year calendar for the Board to review
