REGULAR MEETING OF THE SPOKANE PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF DIRECTORS January 21, 2026 6:00 p.m.   Opening of Meeting The Spokane Public Schools Board of Directors convened in a Regular Meeting on January 21, 2026, at 6:00 pm via In-Person and Zoom Meetings.   Members Present Director Nikki Lockwood, Director Nicole Bishop, Vice President Hilary Kozel, Student Advisor Reggie Alba along with President Jenny Slagle presiding.   MEMBERS ABSENT Director Mike Wiser   Introductions President Slagle introduced Dr. Adam Swinyard and District Leadership staff.   Flag Salute The flag salute was led by President Slagle.   Mission Statement Student Advisor Alba shared the Mission Statement.   Peoples' Acknowledgment Vice President Kozel shared the People’s Acknowledgment.   PROCEDURE FOR HEARING FROM THE COMMUNITY President Slagle acknowledged there were public comments related to the agenda.   CHANGES IN THE AGENDA FROM THE BOARD OR ADMINISTRATION No changes to the agenda were suggested.  Director Lockwood shared moment of silence regarding a Logan student detained by ICE.   Early Board Reports Student Advisor Reggie Alba advised they were preparing for the upcoming Week of Service and for Student Showcase in March.    Hearing from the Community Liz McGinn spoke in support of the French program at Ferris. SPECIAL MEETING – SPOKANE PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF DIRECTORS January 7, 2026 4:30 p.m. OPENING OF MEETING The Spokane Public Schools Board of Directors convened a Special Meeting on January 7, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.   Members present Directors Nicole Bishop, Hilary Kozel, Nikki Lockwood, with President Jenny Slagle presiding.   EXECUTIVE SESSION For the purpose of discussing the performance of a public employee   At 4:30 President Slagle announced that the board was going into executive session until 5:00 At 4:57 the Board extended executive session to 5:05 At 5:05 the board extended executive session to 5:15 At 5:16 the board reconvened into Open session.   OPEN SESSION Information: A. Priority Strategy Update Strategy #3 (Enrollment Study)  Dr. Adam Swinyard and Becky Ramsey, Executive Director of Assessment and Analytics provided an update on enrollment for all schools including a review of middle school enrollment patterns.    B. Budget Development Process & Priorities *Discussion* Dr. Adam Swinyard and Cindy Coleman, Chief Financial and Business Officer reviewed the 2025-26 budget principals and priorities and provided an overview of the draft principals and priorities for 2026-27.   ADJOURNMENT Meeting was adjourned at 5:53pm.
