City Council appoints Jad Lanigan as Dacono Chief of Police

The Dacono City Council will vote on Resolution 26-38 to appoint Jad Lanigan as chief of police and terminate the police advisor and interim chief agreements. Several ordinances will be heard on second reading, including requirements for Spanish language sample ballots and changes to municipal penalties and food‑truck licensing. The council will also consider Resolution 26-39 to appoint a new director of Public Works, Engineering and Water. A study session will follow the meeting to discuss police data analytics, the comprehensive plan and housing needs, and a mobile command unit acquisition.

✓ Decidido: City Council unanimously adopts hazard mitigation plan and multiple ordinances

The council approved the consent agenda, including minutes, payments, and several resolutions, by unanimous vote. They adopted the Weld County 2026 Multi‑Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (Resolution 26‑04) and approved Ordinances 1004, 1005, 1006, and 1007 on second or first reading, all unanimously. The meeting also filled numerous appointments, including Mayor Pro‑Tem and members of the Planning & Zoning Commission, each approved unanimously.

He alleged that an officer unlawfully detained him and violated his rights, and that the officer received only a written warning as a result.
