The City of Duluth Planning staff gave a presentation on the 4th St. Revitalization project from Mesaba
to 6th Ave E. They shared the results from public input sessions and surveys. Issues with existing
crosswalks include pedestrian visibility problems, sightlines and lack of yielding. Census data shows
29% of residents in that area live in poverty and also a high number do not have a vehicle. They
showed proposed plans that include removing parking from one side of the street, adding trees, curb
bump outs to slow traffic, multi use sidewalks, and ADA accessibility upgrades.
