Lake Wales Commission to borrow up to $17.66 million for police, fire, parking upgrades
The City Commission will consider two capital improvement revenue notes: Series 2026A for up to $10,607,000 to finance the police annex and fire stations #2 and #3, and Series 2026B for up to $7,052,000 for parking improvements and other capital projects. A public hearing and second reading will be held for a zoning map amendment to rezone 2+ acres from R-1B Residential to C-3 Highway Commercial for a hotel. La Comisión de la Ciudad de Lake Wales revisará ordenanzas sobre cambios de zonificación para el desarrollo de Hickory Ridge, tarifas de impacto de bibliotecas y estándares de mantenimiento del centro. ✓ Decidido: City okays $295,421 change order to remove railroad timber on Market St.
The commission approved a change order not to exceed $295,421 for ADEC Construction to remove buried railroad timber blocking completion of the Orange Ave water main and streetscape projects. They also accepted the clean annual comprehensive financial report, reappointed four board members to various boards, and approved the consent agenda including funding for lighting at Hunt Brothers Complex.

assist them in considering agenda items, City business, and otherwise fulfilling
the City’s mission to make Lake Wales “a bit better or more beautiful ” for its
citizens.
Anyone wishing to speak should give their name, state if they are a resident,
taxpayer, business owner, or utility customer and they will have 5 minutes.
Courtesy and respect is the hallmark. Speakers are expected to address the
Commission and not audience members, and not engage in back and forth
discussions that can deteriorate into argument, debate and accusations.
Questions about subject matter are best directed to city staff during normal
business hours

La Comisión de la Ciudad de Lake Wales llevará a cabo primeras lecturas y audiencias públicas sobre varias ordenanzas, incluyendo enmiendas al Mapa de Uso de Suelo Futuro y al Mapa de Zonificación para 47 acres en Hickory Ridge, y una expansión de las tarifas de impacto de la biblioteca para cubrir artículos de la colección. Los comisionados también considerarán una resolución para adoptar el rol de evaluaciones no ad valorem de 2026 y una orden de cambio para la remoción de infraestructura ferroviaria en Market Street.
