ORDINANCE REVIEW AD-HOC COMMITTEE

MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL / BPW JOINT MEETING
The Mayor, City Council, and Board of Public Works (BPW) are meeting to review joint projects. Discussions will focus on infrastructure design, a memorandum of understanding between the bodies, and resiliency goals.

MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION

FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee will hear updates from working groups on the FY2027 budget process, trash fee implementation, and tax study recommendations. They will review the draft FY2026 audit report and discuss preparation for the FY2028 budget. Public comments will be taken.

PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
The Parks and Recreation Commission will discuss and possibly act on an updated Beach Ordinance (Chapter 63), a new Drone Ordinance, and a public art installation for summer 2026. They will also review the commission's bylaws and receive project updates on parks, beaches, and trees.

LEWES PARKING WORKING GROUP
The Lewes Parking Working Group will discuss and potentially recommend an in-town parking pilot program on Chestnut, Market, and Mulberry streets. The proposal includes residential parking zones, 3-hour limits for non-residents, and creation of employee parking lots. The group will also consider immediate signage and striping improvements.

LEWES AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE COMMISSION
The Lewes African American Heritage Commission will discuss upcoming programs, including the 'Once In a Blue Moon' event and Girl Scouts program. They will receive updates on the Johnnie Walker Beach interpretive sign unveiling, Juneteenth 2026 planning, and the Middle Passage Marker Project. The commission will also discuss input into the City of Lewes' comprehensive planning effort and potential fundraising.

JOHNNIE WALKER BEACH SUBCOMMITTEE
The Johnnie Walker Beach Subcommittee will discuss updates on the DE250 grant signage and the unveiling ceremony on May 30, 2026, and the replica pavilion design and construction, including design revisions, approval process, and a public hearing.

LEWES PARKING WORKING GROUP
The Parking Working Group will discuss and possibly recommend an in-town parking pilot program. The pilot would set costs for residential permits and designate employee parking locations to address a 500-space employee shortfall. The group also will hear updates from sub-working groups.

FOURTH STREET PRESERVE SUBCOMMITTEE
The subcommittee will hear an update on the Fourth Street Preserve implementation plan, including tree hazard assessment, trail mowing, bridge construction, groundwater study, and planting efforts. They will also consider approval of previous meeting minutes and take public comment.

This public informational workshop presents streetscape design options for Fourth Street and Park Avenue improvements in the Burton neighborhood. The project includes sanitary sewer, water, and roadway upgrades. Staff and engineers will review the options, and the public can provide feedback.
