o T he Delco mini Bird Town clutch is planning a 'birds and plants' themed walk for
the fall, date and location TBD.
o The Valley Forge Audubon Society's Advocacy Committee created a panel display
to educate viewers on window strikes and how to prevent them. The display is
meant to be set up in area libraries or municipal buildings, and the committee is
working on a "reservation" system to loan it out to interested communities. I'd
like to see if either Media library or the Borough would be interested in having
the display set up in a public facing area once it's ready to be loaned out.
Bee City Update
o “ The pollinator garden is crowded with thriving plants. Phlox Jenna is beginning
to bloom with a profusion of pink flowers for pollinators. ” Julie Smith and Linda
Coulston are planning a talk/workshop in September.

EcoTour –
Road Salt – Under Woody ’s leadership, Media participated in the Winter Salt Snapshot
organized by Stroud Water Research Center. The two tributaries of Ridley Creek that
originate in Media were tested, Gayley Run and Broomalls Run. Water samples were
collected on January 24th, and Feb 19th and 21st, 2026. All 16 samples showed above
normal concentrations for chloride. The highest, 423 ppm (parts per million), was collected

on January 24th from Gayley Run adjacent to South Ridley Creek Road after a recent road

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Paikoff.
Media Borough Council met in Joan M. Hagan Council Chambers on the above date at
7:00 p.m. with the following officials present: Mayor Washington , President Paikoff, Vice
President Romaine, Councilpersons Gelman, Herman, Malkoun and del Grosso .
Manager Forman, Solicitor Scott and Engineer Matson were also present.
Councilperson Dunn was not present.

Councilperson Herman made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 5 , 2026
Reorganization Meeting. The motion was seconded by Vice President Romaine . The

Daniel Valdes-Dapena of South Jackson Street
I am writing to suggest that borough council consider mandating that confetti used at
official borough events (e.g., new years eve, parades) require the use of biodegradable
confetti. The borough has already taken an environmentally oriented stance on straws
and single use bags. The volume of non-biodegradable confetti littering the streets,
sidewalks and lawns of Media for weeks following one of these events is appalling. And
while this unsightly trash eventually “goes away ”, it is primarily because it has washed
down storm drains, or blown under plants, or been shredded into smaller, but still not
biodegradable, bits in lawns.
There are numerous companies selling biodegradable confetti, including, of course, the
in original material, paper. Some also sell confetti that breaks down even faster, called
dissolving confetti. And all these products come in a range of colors. Some are even
shiny, like mylar, if that is important to people. So, please, let ’s get rise of this e

EAC will consider a resolution opposing a proposed LNG terminal
The Environmental Advisory Council will discuss a resolution opposing a proposed LNG terminal, pending Borough Council approval. The council will also review updates to the Polystyrene/Black Propylene Plastic ordinance that takes effect in July and report on the Bee City program renewal. Additional topics include expanding the composting program and a Zero Waste workshop scheduled for March 7.

BOROUGH COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING
FEBRUARY 5, 2026
Media Borough Council met in the large conference room on the above date with the
following officials present: Mayor Washington , President Paikoff, Councilpersons
Gelman , Herman, M alkoun , Dunn and del Grosso. Also present was Solicitor Scott,
Engineer Matson and Manager Forman. Vice President Romaine was not present.
Public Comment and Privilege of the Floor
Chris Bannon of North Jackson Street noted that while Public Works and many
businesses cleared sidewalks effectively, many property owners did not clear access
points to the street, particularly at intersections. He emphasized safety concerns for
seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families with strollers.
Regina Hutchings of Manchester Avenue reported similar conditions, stating that
uncleared sidewalks and intersections made travel difficult and dangerous, especially
for seniors. She also questioned whether enforcement of the sidewalk clearing
ordinance was occurring.
Brian Hall of North Edgemont Street reminded Council that some residents may be
physically unable to clear sidewalks and urged consideration of affordability before
enforcing fines. He also expressed interest in a potential appointment to the Zoning
Hearing Board.
Jesse Unger of North Jackson Street praised Public Works for their snow removal

✓ Decidido: Council appointed new officers, set meeting times, and approved finances
The Media Borough Council unanimously approved regular Workshop and Legislative meeting schedules. The council also approved the depository of funds and bonding for the Tax Collector. A series of appointments filled key borough positions, including Treasurer, Solicitor, Engineer, and Manager/Secretary.
- Approved Workshop meetings for first Thursday each month at 7:00 p.m. (unanimous)
- Approved Legislative meetings for third Thursday each month at 7:00 p.m. (unanimous)
- Approved Depository of Funds at WSFS and PLGIT (unanimous)
- Approved bonding of Tax Collector (unanimous)
- Appointed Brian Taussig‑Lux as Borough Treasurer (unanimous)
- Appointed Robert Scott as Borough Solicitor (unanimous)
- Appointed Kevin Matson as primary Engineer (unanimous)

BOROUGH COUNCI L MANDATORY ORGANIZATION MEETING
JANUARY 5, 2026
Media Borough Council met in Joan M. Hagan Council Chambers on the above date with
the following officials present: Joi Washington, Tray Herman, Mark Paikoff, Elizabeth
Romaine , Jen Malkoun, Lisa Gelman, Emilia del Grosso and Taylor Dunn. Also present
w as Manager Forman, Engineer Matson and Solicitor Scott .
Councilperson Gelman called the Reorgan ization Meeting to order at 6 :0 0 p.m. and led
the salute to the flag.
Judge Debbie Krull administered the oath of offic e to Mayor Joi Washington .
Mayor Washi n gton adm inistered t he oa th of office to Councilpersons del Grosso , Dunn ,
Malkoun, Paikoff, Romaine and Tax Collector Katey McVerry
Council person Romaine nominated Councilperson Mark Paikoff as President of Council.
The nomination carried u nanimously .
C ouncilperson Herman nominated Elizabeth Romaine as Vice-President of Council.
The nomination carried unanimously.
Councilperson Malkoun nominated Tray Herman as President Pro Tem. The nomination
carried unanimously.
Presid ent Paikoff m ade a motion to approve the Workshop meetings for the first
Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
P resident Paikoff made a motion to approve the Legislative meetings for the third
Thursday of the month at 7: 0 0 p.m.
