City Council to approve $880,000 World Cup watch party agreement

The council will consider and act on an agreement with Rebees Management Company to plan and execute official Houston Host City World Cup 2026 public watch parties in Sugar Land Town Square, funded through the Hotel Occupancy Tax fund ($400,000) and the Special Event fund ($480,000) for a total not to exceed $880,000. Council members will also review the Mosquito Control Pilot Study results and the Lumitracker Streetlight Assessment. Council to consider final approval of reinvestment zone for 33-acre tract at 1111 Gillingham Lane

The City Council will vote on a consent agenda that includes the second reading of an ordinance creating a reinvestment zone for a 33.47-acre site, several police equipment purchases and contract amendments, and annual reports for three tax increment reinvestment zones. A separate item authorizes a new aviation fuel contract for Sugar Land Regional Airport. The meeting also includes acceptance of donations for Animal Services and appointments to advisory boards.
