Deerfield Finance Committee approves $33,000 in Reserve Fund transfers; Tri Town Beach reps named

Tri Town Beach Commission: Representatives appointed

On June 30, the Tri Town Beach Commission Joint Appointing Committee elected Fred Baron as Chair and authorized him to approve meeting minutes, both by 2-0 votes. The committee then appointed Deerfield and Whately representatives to the Tri Town Beach Commission for a one-year term starting July 1, 2026, also by a 2-0 vote.

Selectboard / Board of Health: Kratom regulations, senior center relocation on agenda

The Selectboard and Board of Health held a hybrid meeting June 24 with a first reading of draft regulations on products containing kratom on the agenda. Other items included a $14,500 transfer from Town Clerk salaries to Accountant Staff salaries, a sewer abatement request for Denkiewicz at 37B Eastern Ave (bill no. 13092), an entertainment license for a claw machine at Magic Wings, and a review and vote on Police Administrative Assistant job description changes. A June 29 Selectboard meeting included a proposal to move South County Senior Center operations to 8 Conway St., a review of Article 10 of the inter-town agreement among Deerfield, Sunderland, and Whately regarding the center, and annual board-committee appointments effective July 1, 2026. Conservation Commission: Public hearing on tree removal

The Conservation Commission scheduled a June 25 public hearing on a Notice of Intent to remove up to ten hazard trees near the Deerfield Academy rowing dock at 518 River Road. Other agenda items included revisions to a bundled Notice of Intent, a compliance review of NOI 142-0228 at 1 Community Place, a complaint regarding map 103 lot 7.1 on Greenfield Road, and drainage ditch restoration at 88 South Mill River Road.
