Airport Trust approves $13.4M terminal flooring contract; Planning Commission adopts solar energy rules
The Oklahoma City Airport Trust approved a $13,385,000 contract for terminal building flooring replacement, the largest dollar decision among city board actions over the past two weeks. The unanimous 5-0 vote on June 25 also included a $2,309,230 contract for aircraft T-hangars at Wiley Post Airport and authorization to bid a new air traffic control tower at the same facility.

Trust members approved eight items unanimously, all 5-0. In addition to the flooring and T-hangar contracts, they approved an amendment with American Airlines updating operational requirements, a $634,674.97 sole-source purchase for gates and furniture, a $340,818 roof replacement contract at CAMI, and a $735 grounds service agreement with the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. The board adopted a distracted driving policy effective July 1, 2026.
Planning Commission
The Oklahoma City Planning Commission approved a new ordinance defining solar energy systems and accessory regulations on a 7-0 vote. Commissioners also approved five rezoning applications: 1933 NW 39th St to SPUD-1843 (7-0), 801 N Cemetery Rd to SPUD-1845 (7-0), 3103 SE 104th St to PUD-2131 (7-0), 13701 N Mustang Rd to PUD-2141 (6-0), and 549 SW 149th St to PUD-2144 (6-0). Final plats for Sooner Gateway and Wheeler District passed 7-0. Five items were deferred to July 23, 2026.
Arts Commission
The Arts Commission, meeting in special session June 24, voted 8-0 to recommend four public art installations to the City Council: a mural titled "Bridges" by Jesse Warne near police headquarters, a terrazzo floor titled "One Voice. One OKC." by Matt Goad at Continental Coliseum, a painting by Dean Wilhite for City Council Chambers, and a mural titled "Route to Happiness" by Armando Ortiz in the 39th Street District. The commission also approved a resolution honoring staff member Randy Marks (8-0). March 16, 2026 meeting minutes were received 8-0.
Community Public Safety Advisory Board
On June 23, the board approved May 12, 2026 forum minutes 4-0. Following a closed session, the board issued Letters of Support for six cases (#2026-0623-01 through -04, -06, and -07) and Letters of Support with comment for two cases (#2026-0623-05 and -08).
