STATE OF RHODE ISLAND, COUNTY OF NEWPORT
The Town Council of the Town of Tiverton, County, and State aforesaid held a Joint Workshop with the School Committee and the Budget Committee on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Tiverton High School Library, 100 N. Brayton Road.
1. Call to Order
Council President Edwards V and School Committee Chairman Diane Farnworth called their respective meetings to order at approximately 6:05 PM.
2. Pledge of Allegiance
All members and attendees stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. Â
Committee member roll calls commenced.
Town Council
President John G. Edwards V, Vice President David J. Paull, Councilors Deborah G. Janick, Denise M. deMedeiros,
Craig R. Committo, Michael Burk, and David Perry were present. Clerk Chabot was also present.
School Committee
School Committee Chair Diane Farnworth, members Elaine Pavao, Kimberly Paquette, and Jocelyn Sherman were present. Vice Chair Deborah Pallasch was absent. Superintendent Haskins and Finance Director Brendon Andrade were also present.
Budget Committee
Budget Committee Chair Scott Toner and member Dan Deren were present. Member John Chelo was absent. Â
Chair Scott Toner indicated that the Budget Committee did not have a quorum.

Regular Town Council Meeting
Tiverton Town Council awards solar project to Kearsarge Energy
The Town Council voted unanimously to award a request for proposals to Kearsarge Energy for a solar panel project at the former Tiverton landfill. The body also approved several traffic and business ordinance amendments and swore in three new police officers.
- Awarded solar development RFP for the former Tiverton landfill to Kearsarge Energy
- Approved stop signs at the intersection of Wampanog Lane and Gadsby Lane
- Approved 30-minute parking limit on State Avenue from Main Road east for 56 feet to 287 State Avenue
- Repealed Holiday license for businesses effective January 1, 2026
- Approved budget transfer of $11,200.00 from Maintenance Staff Salaries to Maintenance Seasonal
