Board hears request to reduce shoreline setback for driveway extension

Board to evaluate and select EMS safety‑net proposal for Bayfield County
The Bayfield County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting on July 15, 2026 to review three EMS service proposals received through an RFP. Committee will consider 2027 budget to address $1M timber revenue shortfall
The Forestry & Parks Committee will discuss an internal wage analysis that recommends grade increases for three positions and reclassifying a forester, with an estimated cost of about $10,000. Children’s Long Term Support Program Enrollment Update: 62 enrolled, 4 referrals.
Announcements:
Leadership Changes- Weyers is the Family Services Manager, as of April 13, 2026. With
restructuring, Berthiaume was promoted to County Child Welfare Lead and is now a
supervisor. Weyers will no longer handle cases and there is a vacancy for a full-time CLTS case
manager. They are trying to grow the team and interviewed multiple candidates last week and
hope to get an offer out soon.

Special Meeting of the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors
May 7, 2026
Call to Order: The special meeting of the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by County Board Chair Jan Lee. Roll Call was taken by County Clerk, Lynn Divine, as follows: Steve Sandstrom - present; Jamie Tucker - present; Larry Fickbohm – present-remotely; Charly Ray-absent; Jan Lee – present; Jeff Olsen – absent; Dennis Pocernich – present; Fred Stand – present; Jeff Holte – present-remotely; Marty Milanowski – present; Roguski – present; James Crandall- present-remotely; Sue Rosa – present-remotely. Present -11; Absent -2. A quorum was present to conduct business. Others Present: Mark Abeles-Allison, County Administrator; Kelly Westlund, Deputy Administrator; Lynn M. Divine, County Clerk; Erin Tibbits, Clerk II. Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Discussion and Possible Action on Amended and Restated Intergovernmental Agreement providing for the creation of the Ashland and Bayfield Counties 9-1-1 Public System Answering Point (PSAP) Commission. Highway Committee to elect chair, approve minutes, and review projects
The Bayfield County Highway Committee will hold elections for Chair and Vice Chair and appoint an Executive Committee member. It will approve the minutes from the March 4, 2026 meeting and audit and approve vouchers. The committee will receive a department overview, a commissioner’s report on 2026 project status, equipment updates, and spring training, and will accept public comment and committee input.

4:00 p.m., Monday April 27, 2026
1) Call to Order
Since committee roles were not assigned prior to the meeting, Sheriff Tony Williams called the
meeting to order at 4:02 p.m.
Roll call:
• Larry Fickbohm
• Marty Milanowski
• Jeff Holte – online
• Jackie Roguski
• Dennis Pocernich
2) Elect committee chair and vice-chair
Pocernich made a motion to elect Milanowski for committee chair. Roguski seconded. The
motion was carried by verbal vote.
Milanowski entertained nominations for vice chair. Pocernich made a motion to elect Fickbohm
for committee vice-chair. Roguski seconded, and the motion was carried by verbal vote.
3) Public Comment
No public comment was made.
4) Approval of March 16, 2026 meeting minutes
Fickbohm made motion to approve the submitted minutes for the March 16, 2026, Sheriff’s
Committee Meeting. Pocernich seconded. The motion carried.
5) Sheriff’s Office
a) Department update
Sheriff’s, Emergency Management, Veterans, Child Support
Committee of the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors
• Staffing is reduced. Two hires either currently enrolled in or imminently beginning
recruit school.
• The Sheriff Input Committee is still seeking applicants. Its first meeting is anticipated
for May.
• The Sheriff’s Office will soon have 8-1
