Public Works Committee

The Bethel Public Works Committee will review unfinished business, including a review of committee duties and topics of interest for 2024, draft ordinances on meeting frequency and membership requirements, a mass‑notification plan for utility customers, and a capital‑project update. Port Commission

Planning Commission

The Bethel Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a Conditional Use Permit application to construct a park on City of Bethel‑owned land in the Public Lands and Institution zone (U.S. Survey 3230 AB Block 7 Lots 2&3). The agenda also includes routine approvals of the meeting agenda and the January 2025 regular meeting minutes, as well as a five‑minute public comment period. The commission will receive reports and member comments before adjourning.

City Council

The Bethel City Council will vote to appoint a qualified individual to a council vacancy that ends on October 7, 2025. The meeting also includes public hearings on two ordinances that amend animal licensing rules and city fee schedules. Community Parks and Recreation Committee

The Bethel Community Parks and Recreation Committee will review updates on the Community Center construction project and the 2045 Comprehensive Plan outreach. It will consider a tribal technical assistance request and the status of deep cleaning the YK Fitness Center shower and pool area. Public Safety and Transportation Commission

The Bethel Public Safety and Transportation Commission will consider a BMC Title 5 amendment that would permit transportation network companies to operate in the city. The commission will also discuss proposed changes to public intoxication policies and review the current taxi inspection requirements under BMC 5.30. City Council

The Bethel City Council and Orutsararmiut Native Council are holding a joint meeting to discuss several new business items. The body will consider a yearly utility bill increase and infrastructure projects.

Finance Committee

Port Commission

The Bethel Port Commission meeting on Jan. 20, 2025 will discuss several items, including a proposed increase in terminal tariff rates for services. Commissioners will also review a wage increase and rehire incentives for SBH attendants, and consider harbor improvement measures such as long‑term parking enforcement devices.
