City Council

City Council to vote on new floodplain development rules

The Blooming Prairie City Council is considering Ordinance 26-0001, which would establish a comprehensive floodplain ordinance. The ordinance sets permit requirements, construction standards, and review procedures for any development in flood-prone areas, and appoints the City Clerk as the responsible person for enforcement. It also addresses extraterritorial jurisdiction and includes penalties of $25 to $200 per day for violations.
