CITY OF GEARHART Regular Meeting of the City Council Wednesday, June 3, 2026 6:00 pm On-site and Virtual/Telephonic A regular meeting of the Gearhart City Council was held Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Council members, City staff, and the public were able to attend on-site, virtually, or by dialing in on a telephone. Present were Mayor Kerry Smith, Councilor Paulina Cockrum, Councilor Preston Devereaux, Councilor Dana Gould, Councilor Sharon Kloepfer, Fire Chief Josh Como, Police Chief Josh Gregory, City Administrator Chad Sweet, Executive Assistant Krysti Ficker, and City Treasurer Justine Hill. A quorum of the Council was present. At 6:00 pm Eliza Shakespeare, the Mayor’s special guest and winner of the 2026 “If I Were Mayor” contest for Gearhart, presented her poster and called to order the regular meeting of the Council. Mark McLaughlin, North Coast Land Conservancy (NCLC) Conservation Director and Katie Voelke, NCLC Executive Director were present. Mayor Smith asked NCLC to provide a synopsis. NCLC McLaughlin explained the objectives of the worksession were twofold, which included the desire to transfer the 2nd Street property to the City of Gearhart and to discuss building a partnership for protecting lands along the Neacoxie creek and riparian lands.
