Ordinance 1788, regulating residential fencing, was approved on first, second and final readings despite one council member voting nay on the later readings.

Advertising & Promotion Commission

The Advertising & Promotion Commission unanimously approved the minutes from the March 17 meeting and the April financial report. It also approved a $1,500.00 sponsorship for the Alzheimer’s Arkansas H2GO Run, a $1,633.38 purchase of 5,000 Military Museum brochures, and an additional $1,250.00 for the 2025 Placer.ai software renewal. A Business Beautification Grant application was discussed and will be placed on the agenda for next month.

Planning Commission

The commission approved rezoning of 624 South Spring Street from R-1 to R-3. It also approved a conditional use for a Residential Care Facility at 210/212 West Hickory Street with specific occupancy and operation conditions. The conditional use motion passed with Commissioner Brittenum voting NAY and Commissioner Priest abstaining. An amendment adding a police‑call condition was later approved, with Commissioner Priest abstaining.

City Council

The council adopted Ordinances 1782, 1783, 1784 and 1785, each reclassifying a specific parcel and adding an emergency clause.
