She was a treasured part of the surrogate's court and a source of knowledge, loyalty and friendship to generations of colleagues. She passed away peacefully on September 14th, just one day after celebrating 50 years of service to Bergen County. Please join me in a moment of silence in her memory. Thank you. *Music* the bernard mcpherson and to the entire mcpherson family during this difficult time may he rest in peace thank you that brings us to an so the mics aren't working so i'm going to yell they're not working tonight but anyway so tonight we're proud again to recognize um the veteran of the month so tonight we recognize michael perry as bergen county's veteran of the month for october michael began i'm sorry september september i lost another month summer's going fast summer's going fast michael began his military career in 1994 when he en listed in the united states marine corps okay during four years of active duty he rose to the rank of sergeant and served as a machine gunner with the third battalion sixth marine with deployments to okinawa korea and the mediterranean and the middle east he later continued his service with the new jersey army national guard but michael's commitment to public service did not end when he left the military in 2000 he began what would become a more than a 21 year career in law enforcement with bergen county serving in specialized assignments including traffic safety unit juvenile detention and school resource officer and as a member of the swat team and a sniper slash observer during his career he was recognized with both the bergen county valor award and a life-saving award from the hokas police department after retiring from the bergen county sheriff's department in 2021 michael once again chose to continue serving others he joined the wa …

. Good evening to everyone. So today we proudly recognize our July veterans of the month. Herman Bud Ehrenberg, whose extraordinary lifetime of service to our nation and our community stands as a true example of dedication and courage. Bud volunteered to serve during the Korean War in 1951 and flew more than 50 combat missions as a rear gunner with the United States Air Force's 13th Bomb Squadron. For his heroism, during the dangerous mission under heavy enemy fire, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross along with other military honors. After returning home, Bud dedicated 43 years to Bergen County as a superintendent mosquito control. He has also served the Paramus Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 60 years, including as its fire chief. His family's commitment to service continues through his son and grandsons who have served as police officers, firefighters, and members of the United States military and now Space Force. Bud, thank you so much for your service to our country and community. Congratulations on being named Bergen County's Veteran Month of July. Thank you. So, Bud, we have a certificate from the board in honor of heartfelt recognition of being awarded Bergen County Veter an of a Month. I didn't want to come to the follow-up appointments, and when I went there, I sat in the office with the psychiatrist for the follow-up appointment, and I just said, "I'm not answering any of your questions. I'm exercising my right to remain silent." And because I did that, and only that, I was brought to the emergency room again, and I was locked up for another two weeks. So even though mental health professionals say they're only locking people up when they're a danger to themselves and others, sometimes mad people get locked up just for exercising their constitutional rights. As Bergen County Commissioner, I would fight for the rights of mad people, and I would make sure that New Bridge Medical Center's psych system doesn't use coercion against them. Thank you. Mr. Farish. Thank you, Chairman Tonelli. Farish, F-A-R-S-H. I'm from Emerson. So since I spoke last time, it's been brought to my attention. I was shown a copy of a bill, an invoice, from two different ambulance services for the same transport of a patient who had pneumonia, about three and a half miles. No blood involved, no catastrophic accident. Apparently, the paramedics put electrocardiogram sensors on , took blood pressure, and heart rate, oxygen levels, and that's all they did. They added an oxygen mask and apparently accompanied the patient to the hospital. The bill for that three and a half miles was $5,670- something. I used to drive an ambulance …

Board to consider issuing $37.46M in bonds and $76M in notes

The Bergen County Board of Commissioners will consider resolutions to issue up to $37,460,000 in general obligation bonds and up to $76,000,000 in county notes through the Bergen County Improvement Authority.
