The City Council voted to separate the Municipal Court from the Police Department to avoid conflicts of interest. The council also approved the FY 2021-2022 budget close-out and several public works and power infrastructure contracts.

The Mayor and Council reached a consensus to work on establishing rules of decorum to improve meeting efficiency and governance. The body discussed using future workshops and a potential retreat to finalize these guidelines. No other substantive votes were taken during the session.

City Council

The City Council approved a 1 mill property tax increase for Fiscal Year 2022-2023, a reduction from the previously proposed 2 mill increase. Additionally, the council voted to freeze most department head hiring until January 1, 2023, with the exception of the Police Chief position.
