The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act ensures school stability for students experiencing homelessness by allowing immediate enrollment without typical documentation, enabling students to remain in their school of origin when in their best interest, and providing access to transportation and support services. It also requires districts to identify and support these students, remove barriers to attendance and success, and designate a liaison to coordinate services.
