City Council

This is the annual organizational meeting of the Fairmont City Council. The council will administer oaths of office to councilmembers, elect a mayor and deputy mayor, and adopt revised rules of order and procedure. No substantive policy decisions are on the agenda.

The City Council held an organizational meeting to swear in six newly elected councilmembers. The council unanimously elected Anne Bolyard as Mayor and Josh Rice as Deputy Mayor and adopted the revised Rules of Order and Procedure.

Historic Preservation Review Commission

The Historic Preservation Review Commission will consider two certificates of appropriateness for properties on Adams Street, one for a sign and repairs and another for extensive renovations and a color change. The meeting also includes approval of the previous minutes and roll call.

The Historic Preservation Review Commission approved a Certificate of Appropriateness for a business sign. The board also held elections to maintain its current leadership. Staff announced plans to broadcast meetings to social media and the pursuit of a City Planner.

Board of Zoning Appeals

The Fairmont Board of Zoning Appeals will hold public hearings on two conditional use permit requests: one for a motel at 1117 Fairmont Ave. and another for outdoor storage as a principal use at 1622 Glass Avenue in the Speedway Business Park. The board will also elect officers and approve minutes from the October 6, 2022 meeting.

The Board of Zoning Appeals approved two conditional use permits for a motel renovation and industrial outdoor storage. The board also elected new officers and approved the October 2022 meeting minutes.
