Page 1 of 2 ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT DATE: July 17, 2026 TO: Mayor & Council FROM: Lukas Darling, Administrator Parks Orchard Street Park - The Village will receive $161,700 in funding to improve Orchard Street Park from the state capital budget. - State capital budget and EPA 319 funding can be combined into one improvement project in 2027. This project will address stormwater bioretention and equipment upgrades. - A solar powered/cellular camera has been installed at Orchard Street Park to monitor equipment. Anywhere Cam is the same model camera that Lake Metroparks uses. Veterans Monument - Construction of the new Fairport Harbor Veterans Monument is ongoing. Recycle Ohio (2026) Grant - The Village has been awarded the grant from OEPA. - This project will install a new water fountain with bottle filler and dog bowl in Veterans Memorial Park, as well as 6 new outdoor recycling bins (3 for downtown, and 1 in each Village park). - Equipment has been ordered. The recycling bins should arrive in August. The drinking fountain has arrived and the Service Department will install it at the park. Veterans Memorial Park Bandstand - FHACA will trench additional electric capacity to the Gazebo. The Village will cover the cost for materials, while FHACA will cover labor. This work should be completed before FHACA’s September concert. 2026 Annual Review of Finnish Heritage Museum Activities 2/14/2026 The Finnish Heritage Museum in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, is a world-class cultural institution. With over 1,000 visitors annually, the museum provides a local venue for community members to meet and learn more about the Nordic people who played a significant role in Northeast Ohio's development. Internationally, the museum is recognized for its efforts to promote cultural awareness and education about Finland and the Finnish diaspora. Thanks to the dedicated work of the members under Ann Pohto's direction, the museum has become the country's largest repository of Finnish genealogical records. Educational developments have included establishing partnerships with Fulbright Finland, which supports scholars conducting research in Finland and worldwide. We have two Fulbright doctoral scholars associated with the museum. In 2025, the museum hosted several large cultural events open to the community, including a Spring Celebration (Vappu), a Midsummer Recognition (Juhanus), and a Winter or Christmas Party (Pikku Joulu). Vappu is a traditional national event in Finland. In 2025, the Vappu Celebration was held to recognize May 1st and the Graduation of Students from Fairport Harding High School. The Midsommer event was celebrated on the beach with a traditional Finnish bonfire. Pikku Joulu was celebrated at Zion Lutheran Church with Christmas activities and traditional Finnish foods. FAIRPORT HARBOR HISTORICAL SOCIETY 2025 ANNUAL REPORT FEBRUARY 9, 2026 Governing Body Fairport Harbor Historical Society President Martha O’Gara Vice President Janet Merrick Treasurer Sharon Chamberlain Secretary Linda Toth Board of Trustees Tony Bertone Mary Alyce Gladding John Ollila Chip Saalfield Bob Waite The past year 2025 was an eventful one for the Fairport Harbor Lighthouse and Marine Museum. We celebrated the 200th anniversary of our site occupied by two lighthouses: One was built in 1825, then was rebuilt in 1871 (and currently standing today). We lease the buildings and property from the Village of Fairport Harbor for $1 yearly. The income to sustain the lighthouse comes from memberships, bequests, donations, grants and fund raising events. We are totally staffed by volunteers.  As of 12/31/25 we had 173 members. Renewals will still be accepted for 2026.  Volunteer hours totaled over 5000 hours.  4900 followers on facebook.  5564 visitors from the USA and overseas toured our lighthouse. Visitors came from Australia, Italy, Mexico, France, Germany and Canada.  26 private tour and two Friday Night Lights were conducted.  2 Groups of Paranormal Investigators. The museum was open 12 Noon to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and legal holidays from May 23rd to September 2025. Red Creek – Grand River Watershed Plan Update - Lake Soil and Water Conservation District’s Red Creek-Grand River Plan is currently being updated. Streets / Service / Water Water Loss Audit (OEPA Reimbursement Grant) - The Village has received our reimbursement from OEPA for a water loss audit. This project is complete. OEPA Water Condition Assessment Program - Verdantas submitted a $20,000 grant application to OEPA on December 19, 2025. This is the second step after the water loss audit. We expect that this document will provide us with our water project list for the next decade. OEPA PWS Emergency Generator Program - Application submitted. Awaiting award announcement.
