The Planning Board voted 6-1 to recommend approval of a zoning map amendment for 8.34 acres at 6109 S NC 55 Highway and 1206 NC 42 Highway, changing the zoning from Heavy Industrial to Corridor Commercial Conditional. The board also approved the corresponding land use plan amendment for the property. The recommendation includes direction for staff to work with the petitioner to revise the list of permitted uses. The board also unanimously recommended approval of a separate rezoning for 72.334 acres at 7621 S NC 55 Highway from Residential Agricultural to Residential Medium Density Conditional.

Public Safety Committee
The Public Safety Committee met to establish its organizational structure, including a recurring meeting schedule and a specific mission focused on community policing. The committee also discussed police complaint procedures and the legal limitations of public records law.

Board of Commissioners
The Board unanimously approved a zoning map amendment for 36.52 acres at 210 and 0 Coley Farm Road and 0 Longfellow Street, changing the zoning from Residential Agricultural and Residential Low Density to Residential Mixed-Use, Neighborhood Mixed-Use, and Urban Mixed-Use districts. The Board also unanimously approved the associated voluntary annexation of the 28.38-acre property owned by Currin Heirs, LLC. Additionally, the Board approved a Land Development Ordinance amendment and a fee schedule amendment, setting the recreation fee-in-lieu of land dedication at 1/30th of an acre per dwelling unit.
