Members Present via Zoom: none
Public present at Town Hall or on Zoom will be iden+fies by name if

MM opened the mee+ng at 6:01pm.
The primary purpose of tonight’s mee+ng is to be a forum for concerns
about Camp Taconic’s wake boat. MM welcomed to the mee+ng Loren
Kleinman from Camp Taconic and the Ashmere residents in aGendance.
Several Ashmere residents noted the shore erosion and damage to
docks caused by Taconic’s wake boat. Bill Weiss (Ashmere Landings)
noted that the shore erosion was exacerbated by Taconic’s moving of its
dock, which changed the loca+on from which skiers embark and are
dropped off. CG noted that the wake from the Taconic boat poses a
danger to swimmers and small boats. She added that last summer
Taconic counselors par+ed loudly and late into the night at the Taconic
dock, disturbing the neighbors.
Mr. Kleinman responded by saying that Camp Taconic has sold its large
wake boat and will be using a smaller boat this summer. He doubted
that the Taconic ski boat was the only cause of the shore erosion. He
thinks that the lower lake level may be a contribu+ng factor to shore
erosion. H …

CONCERNS/COMPLAINTS/DAMAGES/SUGGESTIONS REGARDING CAMP
TACONIC – WAKE BOAT
Due to the shoreline erosion caused by the excessive and constant wakes from the Camp Taconic
wake boat, our sea wall has started to heave in towards the lake. We have had to hire an
excavator (and seek approval from the Conservation Commission) to remove earth behind the
wall (disrupting the grass) and then pull back the sea wall to restore it to its proper alignment.
(Total cost as of yet unknown).
In order to keep our dock from pulling away from the wall, we are now forced to brace our dock
to a tree using a cargo strap, chain and winch which also causes a significant trip hazard on our
lawn and compromises the grass (see photo).
The constant violent up and down motion of our floating dock resulted in a half inch steel pin
shearing causing the dock sections to separate. This was reported to the DEP officer who was
sent to observe the Camp Taconic wake boat from the causeway. (see photo).
Fatigue and constant thrashing caused by the Camp Taconic wake boat snapped the SkyView
Grove Association’s swim float chain from its anchorage setting it afloat into the open water.
This will need to be repaired.
Due to the constant large wakes the Camp Taconic wake boat puts out, we can no longer sit on
our main dock anytime the camp wake boat is out. (Chairs, glassware, plates have fallen into the
lake due to the wake boat wav …
