The Louisiana Peace Officer Standards & Training Council is meeting to consider several requests for certification reinstatement and revocation hearings. The agenda also includes a proposed rule hearing regarding domestic violence administrative rules.

The Council revoked the certifications of eight individuals due to criminal convictions and accepted two certification forfeitures. The board denied two reinstatement requests for missing training hours but approved 13 other reinstatements. Additionally, the Council approved updates to its by-laws and two notices of intent regarding administrative rules.

The Louisiana POST Council held elections for its officer positions. The council appointed a new Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Secretary. Staff will present future updates to the POST Administrative Rule and Council By-Laws.

The Council approved a request for the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office to establish an academy for its own employees due to COVID-19 restrictions. Other actions included reinstating one officer's certification and denying a certification revocation appeal.
