MINUTES OF THE LOUISIANA FOLKLIFE COMMISSION MEETING Louisiana State Library Baton Rouge, LA Friday, February 27, 2026 1 PM Folklife Commission members present: Rachel Ornelas, Leaa Russell, Shane Rasmussen, Karen McKinney, Herman Fuselier, Meg Placke, Ray Berthelot, Josetta LeBoeuf, Sharon Calcote, Kimberly Walden, Mona Lisa Saloy, Susan Roach, Natalie Roblin, Kent Peacock, John Sharp, and Justin Lemoine Folklife Commission members absent: Jim Hogg, Joyce Miller Guests and Louisiana Office of Cultural Development (OCD) staff present: Justin Lemoine I. CALL TO ORDER Teresa Parker opened the meeting of the Louisiana Folklife Commission at 1 pm. Parker invited commissioners to introduce themselves. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the August 8, 2025 meeting were approved with a motion from John Sharp and a second by Meg Placke. III. REPORTS Chair Report –Teresa Parker Parker deferred her comments until the Business section of the meeting. LDOA Budget Report – Leea Russell Russell reported that the LDOA budget is roughly $3.1 million, including $68K from the legislature, just over $1 million from the NEA, and $2.1 million from the Office of Tourism via interagency transfer. Federal funding seems secure- awaiting funding notification. Noted that Lacey Chataignier has moved from Tourism to LDOA with a focus on cultural development- a general fund request to cover the additional cost is in the works.
