Louisiana Finfish Task Force to discuss red drum size limits and charter fishing rules
The Louisiana Finfish Task Force will review proposed changes to red drum size limits for recreational tournaments and discuss new rules for charter fishing on wildlife management areas. Members will also consider a request for a workshop on Robert’s Rules of Order and review commercial catfish data from 2017.

Louisiana Finfish Task Force to discuss redfish migration and menhaden regulations
The Louisiana Finfish Task Force will meet to discuss several fishery management topics, including the migration of bull redfish into coastal areas, regulations for bait seine nets and set lines, and a proposed reduction to the commercial menhaden buffer zone. The task force will also receive the 2025 total menhaden catch and address catfish user-group conflicts in Pass Manchac.

The Task Force voted to recommend that the Commission increase the required frequency for checking and rebaiting set lines from 24 to 72 hours. It also recommended no changes to hoop net regulations in Pass Manchac. The group elected Ben Graham as chairman and Stuart Billeaud as vice-chairman.

A. To Discuss the Migration of Bull Redfish into Coastal Bay and Marshes
Ben Graham stated that Daniel Edgar put items A. and B. on the agenda but he was unable to attend the
meeting. Ben Graham stated that he was unsure of Daniel’s intent for discussing the items and asked if
anyone had any input on the items.
George Huye motioned to defer items A. and B. until the next meeting, 2nd by Daryl Simon. Motion
carries.
B. To Discuss the Use of Bait Seine Nets on Sand Bars at the Mouth of Rivers
