Medicaid Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee

The Louisiana Medicaid Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee will review and potentially update the Preferred Drug List (PDL) by considering 35 therapeutic class reviews, including new classes like sympatholytic antihypertensives and topical antipsoriatics. The committee will also evaluate six new single drugs for inclusion in existing PDL categories, such as Bydureon and Omontys. Additionally, they will discuss pharmacy reimbursement changes and incorporation of pharmacy into managed care.

The Committee approved updated Preferred Drug List (PDL) and Non-Preferred Drug List (NPDL) recommendations for 44 therapeutic classes. Several specific drugs were added to the PDL following discussion, and one drug was removed. The Committee also elected a new Chairman and Vice-Chairman.
