We spend considerable time discussing America 250 and the planning going on in each state.

promotion
begins

2025
and
runs
through
July
4,
2026.
We will build a campaign around “250 things to do along the Great River Road.”These items
could
include
anything
from
attractions
to
restaurants.
We will also look at retooling the summer events campaign to include America 250
themed-events.
There was discussion about working with Culture and Heritage to develop a story around the roll
of
each
states
in
the
Revolution.
There was a comment about looking at adding the America 250 logo to merchandise in our Red
Bubble
store.
Another idea included building regional itineraries that included traveling 250 miles of the Great
River
Road.
Fall will again include the “Drive the Great River Road” campaign. The past two years
incorporated
photo
contests
as
a
means
of
collecting
user-generated
content.

Meeting was called to order at 9:04am.
Pilot (Norma) notes minutes posted for approval. Motion was made to approve minutes by Pilot
Pro Tem (John) and second by Secretary (Holly). Motion carried.
National Office presented the financial report. Pilot mentioned looking for organizations and
businesses that want to use our co-op advertising, membership or sponsorship opportunities.
She would like to create a sub-committee to push these items forward. LA (Sharon) suggested
adding mention of the Red Bubble store in the newsletters and sending solicitations of our co-op
advertising to chambers, CVBs and tourism organizations along the GRR. There was some
discussion about American Cruise and Viking that advertise in Big River Magazine. The bottom
line is the desire to generate revenue from our assets. Motion to approve financial reports by
MN (Anne)and second by IL (Holly). Motion carried.
WI (Sherry), Francis (Transportation) and National Office shared a summary from their meeting
with legal counsel regarding the MRT trademark.

The Meeting was called to order by the Pilot at 9:03am pm on 12/8/23.
The Pilot called for review of the September meeting minutes. Motion to approve by WI and
second by IL. Motion approved.
The financial reports were moved to later in the meeting.
The Transportation committee chair reviewed two major efforts around MRT. Picked up MRT
file from KY, CMP from IL and updated the website. The chair requests that we look at virtual
committee attendance during in-person meetings to keep everyone up to date. Interpretive
Centers (IC) & MRT — working to develop online new pages, tables and help documents.
Specific to directional IC signage — State DOTs can create files and share the information. We
are building toward public engagement next year. TN shared that MRT Inc is inactive status. The
chair suggested we use US Bike route symbol. Seems like an easier path and there is very little
difference. Avoids going through FHWA.
Motion by WI to seek legal to pursue the name and not the symbol but a new symbol that
follows US Bike Route. Second by MN. Question by Pilot Emeritus, —- understand ease and

The Commission approved a new membership and sponsorship proposal to raise revenue and awareness. Members also agreed to a hybrid meeting schedule for 2023 and approved the financial report.

Meeting was called to order by the Pilot at 9:05 am on 12/9/22.
Pilot requested approval of minutes from 9/7/2022. Motion to approve was made by MO and
second by MN. Minutes are approved.
The Treasurer presented the financial report from 11/30/2022. There has been some delay in
dues checks from certain states and there is still $57,500 owed from 2022, but this should be
resolved soon. Treasurer went through each of the financial statements. Before the report was
approved, the members discussed and agreed that separating the expense report from the
financial report makes it easier to see all the expenses as it is listed out in detail. Treasurer
motioned to approve the budget. LA seconded the motion and the report was approved.
Pilot moved on to the new business section of the agenda and presented the new sponsorship
proposal “The Friends of The Great River Road.” This proposal would affect MRPC’s 2023
budget, so it is important to start the discussion on the program. The goals of this proposal are
to encourage participation, encourage addi …
