Rehabilitation Council

The Louisiana Rehabilitation Council holds five consecutive committee and general meetings on October 23, 2025, in Baton Rouge. Each committee (Community Rehabilitation Program, Legislative, Community Outreach, Executive) will review and approve prior minutes and discuss goals and tasks. The general quarterly meeting includes reports from the LRS Director, Client Assistance Program, IDEA, SILC, and Workforce Investment Council, plus an executive session for application review.

The Louisiana Rehabilitation Council approved advocacy items for full LRS funding and requested a study on operational workflow to reduce burnout. The Executive Committee approved Amanda Vinson for membership and recommended her to the Governor. The Council also requested salary comparison data for Rehabilitation Counselors.

Rehabilitation Council

The Louisiana Rehabilitation Council and its three committees (Legislative, Community Rehabilitation Program, and Community Outreach) will meet July 23-24, 2025 in Baton Rouge. Each committee will review bylaws and set goals. The full Council will hear the LRS Director's budget report, receive standing committee and agency reports (CAP, IDEA, SILC, WIC), and consider new membership recommendations. Public comment is available at each session.

The Executive Committee recommended Liam Doyle for a membership appointment and rescheduled standing committee meetings to coincide with General Council meetings. The General Committee approved previous minutes and received reports from standing committees regarding LRS staffing and vendor data.

Rehabilitation Council

The Louisiana Rehabilitation Council will hold a special election meeting to elect officers, review bylaws for officer duties and committee purposes, and make standing committee membership assignments. The meeting will also include public comments and discussion of the October meeting location.

The Council elected a new slate of officers and committee chairs. It also decided that Standing Committee meetings will occur the afternoon before General Committee meetings at anchor locations in Baton Rouge through October 2026.

The Council approved the creation of an ad hoc committee to develop a fact sheet for legislative advocacy regarding funding and state matching. Three new members were approved for the council, and the schedule for future 2025 meetings was accepted.
