Cultural Affairs and Arts Advisory Committee

The meeting was cancelled due to a lack of quorum. No substantive decisions were made.

City Council Work Session

The City Council held a work session to discuss updates to the Temporary Sign Code and memorial markers. No final votes were taken; the council reached a consensus to remove memorial markers from the sign code and treat them as City policy instead. The item will be revisited after the holidays.

City Council Regular Meeting

The City Council approved the updated 2022 Pinal County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan to maintain eligibility for federal disaster assistance. The Council also swore in re-elected members, appointed individuals to city committees, and selected Rich Vitiello as Vice-Mayor.

Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Board

The Board denied a rehearing request from Robert Wenderoth regarding his application for Accidental Disability Retirement. The Board affirmed the prior denial based on the medical opinion of Dr. Joel Parker.

City Council Special Meeting

The City Council met in a special session and entered an executive session to discuss the selection of an Intergovernmental Affairs Director. No public decisions were recorded.

Senior Advisory Committee

The City Council approved a minor General Plan Land Use Amendment to change 1.69 acres of land to Employment use. A related zoning map amendment for 3.61 acres was tabled. The Council also filled two vacancies on the Cultural Affairs and Arts Advisory Committee.

Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Board

The Board tabled a rehearing request regarding the denial of Accidental Disability Retirement for Robert Wenderoth. This action allows the Medical Board Examiner to evaluate new medical reports and provide a supplemental written report. The Board also approved the minutes from the August 3, 2022 meeting.

City Council Regular Meeting

The City Council approved the purchase of approximately 230 acres of real property for $12 million using city reserves. The Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved a 293-unit townhome development at Alan Stephens Parkway and Stonegate Road, a General Plan Amendment changing 1.69 acres from High Density Residential to Employment, and a corresponding rezoning to General Commercial. All votes were unanimous. No items were denied or tabled.
