Mayor Darrell Mehlhaf called the City Council to order at 6:00 p.m. on August 3, 2026 in the finance office at city
hall. Council answering roll call: George Cokens, Ron Diede, Jerry Fischer, and Terah Schoenfish. Finance Officer

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2005 REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MENNO, SOUTH DAKOTA
ESTABLISHING DEFINITIONS APPLICABLE TO CHAPTER 2 ABANDONED VEHICLES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF MENNO, HUTCHINSON COUNTY, SOUTH DAKOTA, that the 2005 Revised
Ordinances of the City of Menno, South Dakota be amended to read as follows:
Chapter 2, Section 2-1 is hereby amended as follows:
Section 2-1a. Definitions.
For purposes of this Chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings set forth below:
1. Abandoned Motor Vehicle means any motor vehicle as deemed herein which is left unattended on any
public street, alley, public place or parking lot within the municipality for a longer period that 24 hours
without notifying the chief of police and making arrangements for the …

MINUTES OF MENNO EQUALIZATION MEETING
March 16, 2026
Mayor Darrell Mehlhaf called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Answering roll call: George Cokens, Amber Cross,
Ronald Diede, Jerry Fischer, Jacob Mettler, and Terah Schoenfish. Finance Officer Jodi Fischer was also present.
Agenda: Fischer moved to approve the agenda. Mettler seconded the motion. All votes aye.
No one appeared before the board to appeal their valuation.
Assessment books and lists of improvements were reviewed. No changes were made.
Sweeping Contract: Cokens moved to approve a contract between the City and the SD DOT for sweeping curb and
gutter on US Hwy 18 at MRM 394.5 to 395.0 in Menno and US Hwy 18 at MRM 389.5 to 390.0 in Olivet. The total
amount of the contract is 25 hours for a total amount of $2000.00. Diede seconded the motion. All votes aye.
Equipment: Cross moved, upon Street Committee recommendation, a purchase can be made that is acceptable to
the City’s operational needs. Schoenfish seconded the motion. All votes aye.
