Approved Minutes
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Reidsville City Council was held on Monday June 8,
2026, at 5:00 pm. Members of the Council present:

City Attorney, Duann Cowart-Davis, and Finance Manager, Gina Sheridan was present.
Mayor, Vickie Nail was on vacation.
Jessica Baugh prepared the minutes.
The meeting was brought to order by Council Member Donald Prestage at 5:00 pm. Donald
opened by introducing Jessica Baugh, the new City Clerk. The prayer was given by Council
Member Verdie Williams, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Donald advised the meeting minutes from last month's meeting were provided to the Council for
review. If there are no questions and/or corrections needed to accept as written. A motion was
made to accept the minutes as written.

The Department Supervisors were asked to present their monthly activity/statistics to the
Council. Donald Prestage presented the report for the Public Works Department. Verdie
Williams asked, “If the new policy was working well?” Donald replied, “yes, it was working
well, it is encouraging people due to the $75 reconnecting fee”. Council Member Verdie
Williams then asked, “If there had been any trouble with the back flow preventer?” Donald
Prestage responded that there were no issue

The meeting was brought to order by Mavor Vickic Nail at 5:01pm. The prayer was given by
Council Member Derrick Duckworth. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Mavor opened thanking the Downtown Development Authority for their hard work and
commitment to the beautification of Reidsville. their ctforts are noticeable all over town with
beautiful flowers. plants and lighting for all to appreciate. Mayor Nail reminded all in
attendance that she is responsible for the Agenda and keeping it moving. She reminded everyone
that while their voice and opinions are welcomu. she asks that all in atiendance show respect for
each other and address the chair before speaking out. Reminding the audience that questions wiltl
be welcomed at the end.
The Mayor advised the meeting minutes from last month’s meeting were provided to the Council
for review. If there arc no questions andfor corrections needed to accept as written. A motion
was made to accept the minutes as written.

meeting by introducing the new Administrative Clerk at City Hall. Yahaira “Jai” Mendia-
Rodriguez. Ms. Rodriguez replaces Zariah Anderson. who following her college graduation.
accepted a position elsewhere that allowed her to work within her major. The prayer was given
by Council Member Donald Prestage. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Mayor advised the meeting minutes from last month's meeting were prov ided to the Council
for review. If there are no questions and/or corrections needed to accept as written. Counci
Member Dan Bennett stated that on the last page of the minutes Council Member Williams’ last
name was missing an S at the end and he had no problem approving if corrected to reflect proper
spelling. A motion was made to accept the minutes with correction.

accept the minutes and any corrections.

The mayor began the meeting after a short planning session with the council that began at
4:30 pm. The Pledge and Prayer were completed prior to the opening of the official
meeting.
The mayor asked our administration clerk to come in and talk with the council about
creating a city social media page. Za’Riah Anderson spoke with the council about the
purpose of the social media page. The purpose would be another mass communication
effort to reach citizens in a real-time way. The city has a Code Red notification system,
with the county, as well as a notification through our website, but many citizens still have
not subscribed. Facebook is a popular platform and could be used for mass
communication with citizens. Slanderous comments were a concern. There are options to
discourage the public’s comments. The council addressed many questions about the use

THE REIDSVILLE CITY COUNCIL
January 12, 2026

Councilmember-Derrick Duckworth Building Inspector- Don Powell
Mayor Vickie Nail calls the meeting to order and welcomed the guest and
visitors. The Mayor gave a special word of recognition in thanks and
condolences to the family of the former Mayor Eddie Rewis. City Hall flags
were at half mast. Councilman Dan Bennett led the meeting attendees ina
word of prayer. The pledge of allegiance was recited in unison.
The Mayor is asking the Council for a motion to approve minutes from the
December regular meeting as well as the January Planning session that took
place the week before voting in the reigning Mayor Pro-Tem.
Donald Prestage makes a motion to accept and adopt the December 2025
minutes.
