✓ Decided: Council approves $6,300 cooling unit for shop

The Milnor City Council approved the purchase of a new cooling unit from Crossroads Electric for $6,300. They also approved building permits for four property owners, a gaming permit for VFW Post 9069, the 2025 Drinking Water Quality Report, and a $390 sewer bill payment for a resident. The council approved the Stock Grower's Bank pledge and a list of bills totaling over $100,000.

At a regular meeting of the Milnor City Council held on Monday, July 13, 2026, 5:00 p.m. the following members were present: Curtis Anderson, Alan Boyer, Denise Ferderer, Michelle Odegard and Jodi Ost. Also present: Mike Bassingthwaite, Travis Paeper, Scott Johnson, Paige Benda, Terry Dusek, Deb Boyer, Robert Lotzer, Ryan Smith, Glen Koeppe and Jennie Hanna. Barb Koeppe and Dennis Odegard joined the meeting later. Meeting called to order by Mayor, Glen Koeppe. Motion to approve meeting agenda (Anderson/Ost, unanimous). Motion to approve June meeting minutes (Ost/Ferderer, unanimous). Sheriff Travis Paeper reviewed the Sheriff’s Report. He reported June had been busy, but with nothing too out of the ordinary. Both Bob Lotzer and Dennis Odegard informed Paeper about dog issues. Paeper also informed council about instances with raccoons in town and stated residents should call the Sheriff’s department if they come into contact with a raccoon, before trying to handle it themselves. Mike Bassingthwaite reviewed the Engineer’s Report and informed council he hadn’t yet received a quote from the seal coat company for the walking path repair. Bassingthwaite stated the sidewalk project was pretty much completed, with just grass seeding and sign replacement left. ✓ Decided: Council approves new city attorneys and Renaissance Zone project

The Milnor City Council unanimously approved Smith & Strege Ltd. attorneys Amy Clark and Paige Benda as the city's new legal counsel. They also approved a Renaissance Zone application from Mark and Sandra Claeys to build a new home at 102 & 104 Edison Street. Several other routine items were approved, including building permits, gaming site authorizations, and an increase in liability insurance limits.

✓ Decided: Council approves sale of Park Lane lot for garage, restores sirens
