The Village Board approved a federal-aid project to resurface Douglas Road from Route 30 to Ashland Avenue, with the village paying 25% of costs and sharing with Aurora. President Brolley. Coin medallions were distributed to commemorate Chief Smith’s retirement. Manager Nemetz
introduced Christopher Burne, after which President Brolley swore him in as the new Chief of Police. Chief Burne
read a statement thanking everyone for their support and looking forward to the next chapter in Montgomery.

A. Schaeffer's 100 Year Anniversary Presentation – Several representatives from the Schaefer family and
the new owners and employees of Schaefer’s were present. Manager Nemetz reviewed some of Schaefer’s history
throughout the past 100 years and presented a “Schaefer Way” street sign to the family and to the business. The
Kudas who bought the greenhouse last year were also present and Mrs. Kuda read a heartfelt statement about the
long history of the business and how they intend to honor the Schaefer family legacy and create a place for future
generations. There will be a 100th anniversary celebration on July 18th at 11:00 a.m.

with the Montgomery Police Department, stating her disagreement with Attorney Quance’s findings. After
exceeding the two-minute limit, President Brolley asked her to submit any additional comments in writing.
Curtis Wilson from Aurora attended the meeting as a guest for the Volunteer Awards. He introduced himself and

presented the award to Water Superintendent Jeremy Moss and Director Mark Wolf.
C. Public Works Proclamation – President Brolley read the proclamation, after which Trustee
Brzoska motioned to approve, seconded by Trustee Marecek. The motion carried by voice vote.
D. Arbor Day Coloring Contest Winners – Rosie Boeing stated the Village received more than
700 submissions for the contest and announced the six winners.
