The Inauguration of the Mayor and Members of the Municipal Council of the
City of Newark, New Jersey was held on the above date at the New Jersey
Performing Arts Center, Newark, New Jersey at 12:00 p.m.
Arts High School Jazz Band performed various musical selections.
City Clerk Kecia Daniels gave the welcome and introduced the Master of
Ceremony, Abraham Negron, Deputy City Clerk.
Deputy City Clerk Abraham Negron acknowledged several dignitaries who
were in attendance on this occasion.
The Mayor and the Municipal Council processioned to the stage
accompanied by Dawadi African Drums.
The Grouping of the Colors was presented by the Newark Department of
Safety Color Guard.
The Stars Spangled Banner and Lift Every Voice and Sing was performed by
Dion Simmons.
The invocation was delivered by Imam Daud Haqq, NIA Masjid and
