Planning Board
The North Wilkesboro Planning Board will meet virtually on January 14, 2021, to hold a public hearing on proposed text amendments to allow a lodge use in certain zoning districts, and to consider an annexation request for a 33.30-acre parcel off Elkin Highway and River Road Liberty Grove Road. The board will also approve the agenda and minutes from the December 10, 2020 meeting, and hear public comments. The lodge amendment will be voted on at a reconvened meeting on January 15, 2021.

The North Wilkesboro Planning Board approved a text amendment to the zoning ordinance defining 'lodge' as a facility for overnight lodging for guests, members, staff, or employees of a business entity without payment. The amendment, tailored to Samaritan's Purse's proposed 29-room facility, passed unanimously 6-0. The board also discussed but took no action on an annexation request for a 33.30-acre parcel off Elkin Highway, and rescheduled a November meeting to November 16th.

Town Board
The North Wilkesboro Board of Commissioners will hold a regular meeting with a proclamation recognizing retiring Police Chief Joe R. Rankin Jr. and the swearing-in of Interim Chief Charles R. Thornburg. The board will also consider consent items, a tentative FY19-20 audit presentation, and tentative updates to the personnel policy.
