Council voted unanimously to direct the city manager to withdraw the city from participation in the Central Virginia Waste Management Authority for the purposes of the solid waste collection services contract. Council also voted unanimously to waive penalty interest on the current billing cycle from December 31, 2023, to January 19, 2024, for all real estate taxes and utility billing, which Vice Mayor Hill said was because holiday mail delays meant some residents received bills late. The council then adjourned at 5:27 p.m.
