MINUTES OF THE JULY 22, 2026 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
The following are the Minutes of June 22, 2026, Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of
the Borough of Pompton Lakes that was held in the Council Meeting room of the Municipal
Building, 25 Lenox Avenue, Pompton Lakes, New Jersey and was called to order at 7:00 P.M.
Mayor Michael Serra opened the Meeting and led participants in saluting the flag.
Mayor Serra read the Open Public Meeting Law Statement of Compliance.
A Roll Call indicated the following members were present: Mayor Michael Serra, Council
President Maria Kent, Councilmen Stephen Baig and Ekamon Venin. Councilman Scott Santers
present via telephone. Councilmen Bobby Cruz and Randy Hinton were excused from the
Meeting.
Also present were the Borough Attorney, Mark Semeraro, Borough Administrator, Michael

The following are the Minutes of June 24, 2026, Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Pompton Lakes that was held in the Council Meeting room of the Municipal Building,
25 Lenox Avenue, Pompton Lakes, New Jersey and was called to order at 7:00 P.M.
Mayor Michael Serra opened the Meeting and led participants in saluting the flag.

The following are the Minutes of June 10, 2026, Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the

The Police Awards Presentation began with a ceremonial procession by the Passaic County Pipes
and Drums, followed by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard in a solemn
tribute to the dedication and service of law enforcement professionals.

22.014 - 156 Whitney - Tree located in rear of property. Pete spoke with homeowner about the tree. The tree is leaning but stable. Will consider a pruning in spring 2026. Keep open.
24.015 - 59 Albany Ave - Reopened the application. Homeowner still complaining about large tree in front of property that may be causing damage to their sewer pipes. John Linson went to visit this location and feels that the tree is in good health and should not be removed. Anne is sending an email to homeowner regarding the arborist (Linson) report.
25.007 - 211 Walnut Ave - This was sent to us back in Sept 2024 small dead tree and was in the original email to DPW for removal. Follow up to see if this tree was removed.
25.011 - 56 Hunter Place - Serviceberry tree that is in decline, will revisit in spring 2026 to see if the tree has leaves. If not, tree will be removed.
25.016 - 37 West Lenox Ave - At the November meeting, Pete & Cailin were going to revisit this tree to see if a pruning is needed.

The following are the Minutes of May 13, 2026, Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Pompton Lakes that was held in the Council Meeting room of the Municipal Building,
25 Lenox Avenue, Pompton Lakes, New Jersey and was called to order at 7:00 P.M.
Mayor Michael Serra opened the Meeting and led participants in saluting the flag.
Mayor Serra read the Open Public Meeting Law Statement of Compliance.
A Roll Call indicated the following members were present: Mayor Michael Serra, Council President
Maria Kent, Councilmen Stephen Baig, Randy Hinton, Scott Santers and Councilman Ekamon
Venin. Councilman Bobby Cruz was excused.
Also present were the Borough Attorney, Mark Semeraro, Borough Administrator, Michael Carelli
and Borough Clerk, Elizabeth Brandsness.
MAYOR PRESENTATIONS AND UPDATES:
Mayor Serra presented Ms. Brandsness with an award, recognizing her as a recipient of the 2026
General Code Municipal Clerk Honor Roll. Mayor Serra acknowledged her dedication, service to
the community, as well as her role as Municipal Clerk ensuring efficient local government. Mayor
Serra thanked Ms. Brandsness for her years of service to the Borough. Ms. Brandsness expressed
her gratitude and said she was honored to have the opportunity to serve the community.
