Health Care Center Committee

Public Safety/Emergency Management Committee

The Public Safety/Emergency Management Committee will review routine reports from the Sheriff, EMS, and Medical Examiner, and discuss facility master planning and a $25,000 COVID grant. County Board

The Portage County Board will consider reinstating funding for the Adult Day Center in the 2023 budget, authorizing projects using federal SLFRF funds, and approving a 2% salary adjustment for 2023. Highway Committee

The Portage County Security and Facilities Committee will meet to review past minutes, discuss special meeting attendance, and address security concerns in Court Room E. The agenda includes updates on duress alarm procedures, active shooter drills, and the courthouse building project. The committee established a policy to remove handcuffs from juveniles in secure custody during court appearances unless the judge determines there is a substantial risk of harm or flight. Joint Meeting of Committees

The joint Human Resources and Finance Committees will discuss and possibly approve a 2% annual adjustment to the 2023 salary schedule, final placement of employees into updated salary schedules, and related budget amendments. South Central Library System Board of Trustees

Groundwater Citizens Advisory Committee

This meeting of the Portage County Groundwater Citizens Advisory Committee was cancelled and rescheduled for January 19, 2023. The original agenda included updates on county well water sampling and the Nelsonville workplan, plus a presentation on private onsite wastewater treatment systems and possible recommendations for ordinance revisions.

Housing Authority Board of Commissioners

The Housing Authority of the County of Portage Board of Commissioners will consider resolutions to create a new owner entity, adopt by-laws for the authority and for PC Housing, LLC, and set the 2023 meeting schedule. The board will also receive a director’s update on occupancy, finances, and properties, and may enter closed session to discuss wage adjustments for the maintenance manager.

The Portage County Planning and Zoning Committee will hold a business meeting on December 14, 2022, at 6:30 PM. Key agenda items include discussion and possible action on the 2023 Public Land Survey System (PLSS) maintenance contract, a presentation on private onsite wastewater treatment systems (POWTS), discussion of wetland delineations and related rezonings, and discussion/possible action on program prioritization and special meeting attendance under county ordinances. Central WI Joint Airport Board Meeting

The Central Wisconsin Joint Airport Board will consider and possibly act on the 2023 parking rate structure and annual airport goals. Finance Committee

The Space and Properties Committee decided to list remaining tax deed parcels on WI Surplus Auction with a minimum bid of 50% of their assessed value. The committee also agreed to relist three specific parcels that did not sell in a previous auction. Road right-of-way parcels were excluded from the sale to determine if municipalities are interested.

Health Care Center Committee

The Portage County Health Care Center Committee and Space & Properties Committee will meet jointly to discuss and possibly act on special meeting attendance rules and to review a schematic design presentation for the new Portage County Health Care Center. Representatives from Tegra, Wold, and Pepper presented schematic design updates for a new health care center, including a preliminary cost estimate of $21-24 million.
