This Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of River Edge was held in person at the Council
Chambers located at 705 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, NJ 07661 and virtually via Zoom on
Thursday, June 25, 2026. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Thomas Papaleo.
SILENT PRAYER – FLAG SALUTE
Mayor Papaleo called for a moment of silent reflection for the safety and enjoyment of all athletes
worldwide in the World Cup soccer tournament as well as the fans and all who are involved.
Councilwoman Malellari led those present in the salute to the flag.

CALL TO ORDER –
A Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of River Edge was held in person in
Council Chambers of the River Edge Municipal Building located at 705 Kinderkamack Road, River
Edge, NJ 07661 and virtually via Zoom on March 12, 2026. The meeting was called to order at 7:00
p.m. by Mayor Thomas Papaleo.
SILENT PRAYER – FLAG SALUTE
Mayor Papaleo asked for a moment of silence for those suffering from the impacts of war,
especially those in Michigan and Virginia. Councilwoman Malellari then led those present in a
salute to the flag.
STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE -
Mayor Papaleo read the Statement of Compliance into the record as follows:

The Historic Commission met on March 9, 2026 (rescheduled from February 24 due to weather) and discussed several ongoing projects. No formal votes were taken. PHYLLIS ANGELO: Stated she spoke with Priti about getting a
photograph of the new Borough Hall for the archives and she said
she would get that. She also spoke to Priti about the budget and
she advised the budget is just a draft and has not been finalized.
Questioned Eric if he wants to discuss the historic sign for the
Borough.
ERIC MODEL: Stated Phyllis should send a letter to the DPW
confirming they want the sign restored. Stated he has 6 students
who are volunteering for 250
th activities and are also interested in
volunteering to do River Edge history projects. Advised some
communities have a Youth Council and since they want to connect
with the students, they should do something to retain their
enthusiasm and interest.
PHYLLIS ANGELO: Stated Eric is working on the wording of the
historic sign for the 125th Anniversary of the Fire Department.
ERIC MODEL: Advised he met with a representative last week
and suggested he be in contact with Jason of the DPW to confirm
the status of the land and once that is done, they can price out the
sign and then revisit the language on the sign.
PHYLLIS ANGELO: Questioned Jim if there is anything new with

A Special Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of River Edge was held virtually via Zoom
on March 7, 2026. The meeting was called to order at 8:09 a.m. by Mayor Thomas Papaleo.

Mayor Papaleo asked for a moment of silence for service men and women, those involved in the peace
process and all those innocent people who are involved in battle conditions. He then led those present in
a salute to the flag.
