• Sergeant Richard Hamilton is completing his Fire Instructor certification. Once he
completes and passes this program, he will need to put in 12 teaching hours. He will do
his student teaching at Wayne County Community College - Fire Academy.
• Deputy Clerk Angela Lovelock will be at the 2026 Clerk’s Institute in Mt. Pleasant next
week. This is the first year of a three-year course in order to receive her Clerk
Certification.
• The Allen Park Library is delivering their first collection of food donations to the
Honeycomb Food Pantry located inside the Allen Park Presbyterian Church.
• The DDA will be doing more musical concerts this year from May to October that will
include curated vendors and family friendly activities. These events will take place from
4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of the month.
• Compost pickup and street sweeping begins the week of April 6
th. Leaves, grass
clippings, and yard waste must be in cans that clearly say “Compost” or in paper
compost bags only. (“Compost” stickers are also available at City Offices)

• The Community Center is starting Ping Pong for seniors at no charge on Wednesdays from
1:00 to 3:00 p.m. starting on March 4th (equipment is provided).
• The Allen Park Library staff have been busy getting a “seed” library ready that will launch in
the spring.
• The Community Center started the “Stroller Club” that is currently running through March.
You can walk in the Community Center gym free of charge from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. on
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and
Thursdays. Please register at the Community Center.
• Qualified individuals can get free tax preparation service from the Accounting Aid Society.
Bookings are available between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on April 11

• Artwork has been created and will be put on screens that will go around the HVAC units at
the Allen Park Library.
• “Cookies, Cocoa & Origami” with Andrew Sigmund takes place at the Library on Saturday, February
14th at 2:00 p.m. for ages seven and older.
• The Detroit Institute of Art is creating a mural on a City building located at 6615 Roosevelt
and they are looking for input for a design that reflects our community. You can find a link
to the survey on our City website and official Facebook page. There is no cost to the City for
this mural.
• Just a reminder that we have a safe medication disposal drop box here inside our Allen Park
Police Department. No RX containers, plastic bottles, needles, liquids or aerosols are
