Committees

The Shelter Island Green Options Committee will review and approve minutes from October and November 2024, set meeting dates for 2025, and hear a presentation by Lynn Arthur on community solar. Updates on the Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Project and PSEG meeting are also on the agenda. The meeting is largely procedural with no binding decisions expected.

The Green Options Committee unanimously approved the minutes from its October and November 2024 meetings, as well as its 2025 meeting dates. Committees

The EMS Advisory Board unanimously approved the September 18, 2024 minutes and the 2025 meeting dates. The EMS Director reported 435 calls year-to-date, completion of a radio system redundancy at the tower, and progress on the ambulance bay expansion project. The EMS Chief noted the Foundation donated about $125,000 to the Town.

Town Board

The Town Board will hold a work session and special meeting to continue the public hearing and potentially approve the $3.9 million Community Preservation Fund acquisition of 7 South Cartwright Road. The board will also adopt the 2025 meeting calendar, approve a $16,000 water quality improvement rebate, and adopt a local law making a portion of Waverly Place one-way westbound. Additionally, the board will set public hearings for January 27, 2025, on site plan reviews for Liberty Lawn Care and Gardiners Bay Country Club, and a dredging application for Alfred Loreto.

The Town Board approved the $3.9 million acquisition of 7 South Cartwright Road using Community Preservation Funds, with Councilman Gooding abstaining. Town Board

The Town Board is discussing a local law to move the review of large homes from a special permit process to an area variance handled by the Zoning Board. The board is also holding hearings on a three-month moratorium extension for large home permits and the acquisition of land on Midway Road.
