Solon Community Improvement Corporation

Safety and Public Properties
Solon's Safety and Public Properties committee met February 9, 2022 to review police and fire reports and take up new business. Members were set to consider a replacement ambulance, Grantwood equipment purchases, jail service contracts with Bedford, Oakwood Village and Orange Village, a fire protection system replacement, park and recreation fee reviews, and a request to use city property at 33156 Solon Road. City Council
Solon City Council meets Monday, February 7, 2022 at 7:30 PM to act on a wide-ranging agenda. Public Works

Special City Council
Solon City Council held a special meeting on January 27, 2022, to consider legislation authorizing a grant application to the Ohio EPA's Diesel Mitigation Trust Fund for electric vehicle charging stations. Council passed Resolution No. 2022-30 on first reading and final passage by a 5-0 vote, declaring an emergency. The two DC fast-charging stations would be located on Community Park property — one in the auxiliary lot on Portz Parkway near the tennis, basketball and pickleball courts, and one in the parking lot near the log cabin off SOM Center Road. The special meeting was requested because the grant application deadline is January 31st.

Finance Committee

City Council
Solon City Council meets Tuesday, January 18, 2022, to consider a large consent agenda covering new police collective bargaining agreements, right-of-way purchases for the Aurora Road Reconstruction Phase I Project, and numerous equipment purchases for the Service, Fire, and Water Reclamation departments. Special City Council

Council authorized the mayor to apply for a Cuyahoga County grant of up to $50,000 to begin site work on the proposed Bicentennial Park, amended a prisoner-housing agreement with the City of Twinsburg from three years to two years, and authorized payment of the 2022 annual fire hydrant fee to the Cleveland Division of Water. Councilmen William Russo and Jeremy Zelwin were absent; Vice Mayor Meany presided.
