Parish Council

Coastal Zone Commission

The St. James Parish Coastal Zone Advisory Board will review several new business items including utility and industrial proposals. The agenda includes discussions on fiber optic cable replacement, limestone stockpiling, and pipeline installations.

Planning Commission

The St. James Parish Planning Commission will hold a regular meeting on January 31, 2022, to discuss and vote on several land-use items. Key agenda items include a request to re-subdivide lots at St. Rose Plantation, a public hearing on a proposed sandpit and limestone stockpile by Rene's Industries, and a request to build a tobacco barn by Lowell Roussel. The meeting also includes approval of previous meeting minutes and other routine business.

The Planning Commission recommended that the Parish Council approve the construction of a 2,400 square foot pole barn for tobacco harvesting. The commission also approved a simplified subdivision for St. Rose Plantation. One industrial land use request was presented for information only and will be considered at a later date.

Economic Development Board Meetings

The St. James Parish Economic Development Board will elect officers (Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary) as new business. The board will also recognize Frisard's Trucking as Small Business of the Month and receive an update on the Welcome Center including tourist numbers. Reports from the River Parishes Tourist Commission, River Region Chamber of Commerce, and other entities are scheduled. Public comments on agenda items requiring a vote will be heard.
