Library Pollinator Garden: Scheduled weeding for Monday, August 17, 8:30am. We viewed the
new plans for the garden expansion. Discussed water features and possible replacement of the
rock border, as it is too hard to maintain from weeds.
Discussed the success of the Extraordinary Caterpillar documentary screening at the library.
Nineteen adults and 8 children attended. We had live caterpillars, chrysalises and 5 monarch
butterflies that the children released in the library garden. We gave away butterfly weed and will
plant some extras in the library garden.
Bird Town: We will celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with an event at Masons Mill Park,
Pavilion 1, Oct 10, 10:00 - 11:30am. Need to order Bird Town Banner for table. Will table with
books (with possible story time), info on Feather Friendly, lights out, Merlin App, cats and bird
friendly gardens. We will have a birding walk with binoculars provided. Need to make up signs
to post around the playground area and pollinator garden to promote the event.

Scheduled weeding and mulching of Masons Mill Park pollinator garden for July 9, 9:00 am.
Meet at the Upper Moreland Township compost yard.
We had a table at the first PERT Tweet and Greet event. We estimated about 50 interactions
with community attendees. We would like to get a Bird Town banner for future table displays.
We will have over 50 Asclepias tuberosa, or butterfly weed, to give away at the screening of the
Extraordinary Caterpillar documentary. This will be held on August 1, 2026 at 11:15am at the
UMFPL.
Discussed options for Bird Town events we can host.
We will look into holding an event at Masons Mill Park on October 10 at 10:00am, which is
Migratory Bird Day featuring:

binoculars for bird watching
tabling with bird information

Phoebe Park, resident, commented safety concerns about bike routes and e-bikes within the
Township’s infrastructure. Mr. Stasio replied that a discussion will continue with Township
staff and then will be brought forward to the public for comments at a future Committee meeting.

Approved minutes from May 6, 2026
We agreed to have an informational table at PERT for their Tweet and Greet event, Sunday
June 14, 9am to 1pm. We will provide informational handouts on birds, including “lights out” and
Feather Friendly, and we will make a picture poster of our Bird Town activities.
We brainstormed ideas for Bird Town events needed to retain our Bird Town status. With
joining the Bird City Network, we are now required to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day. Oct
10th, 2026 is the fall date, then May of 2027. Ideas included doing a presentation to the e-club,
posters at the library, Facebook, township website, bird watching event, Lego bird building and
scavenger hunt.
We will provide some free native plants to give away at The Extraordinary Caterpillar movie
screening at the UMFPL on August 1, 2026, 11:15am. The library will advertise the event.
We will weed the bird friendly area at Pilegge Park on Thursday, June 4 at 10:00am.
Voting on the new meadow policy has been postponed until the July BOC meeting.
We weeded the UMFPL pollinator garden Monday, June 1. Planning is in progress to expand
the garden outside the fence on Park Avenue. Will mulch when the new plan is begun.

Call to Order: The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Upper Moreland Township
was called to order by Commissioner and Board President Clifton "Kip" McFatridge.

The Board of Commissioners met in an Executive Session prior to the start of tonight’s meeting to
discuss real estate matters.
b. Mr. Stasio announced that as of June 1st the Township Administrative offices, which include Code
Enforcement, Parks and Recreation, Information Systems & Facilities, Finance, Township
Manager’s Office and Human Resources have temporarily moved to 2510 Maryland Road,
Willowood Building, Suite 250, Willow Grove, PA. Wayfinding signs will be posted at all street
and building entrances as well as the Upper Moreland Free Public Library. The Police Department
will remain at the 117 Park Avenue address until June 14th and wil …
