GOVERNING BODY Wallace is governed by the council/manager form of government. Under this form of government, the Town Council, which is elected by the people, is the final authority on policy matters relating to Wallace’s government. The Council appoints the Town Manager. The Town Manager is the chief administrator of the Town and serves at the discretion of the Council under a contracted term. The Mayor and Town Council are the governing body of the Town. The Mayor acts as the head official of the government. The Mayor presides at all Town Council meetings and signs all documents authorized by the Council. The Mayor Pro-Tem is selected by each newly elected Council and assumes mayoral duties in the absence of the Mayor. The Mayor and Town Council establish general policies, ordinances, resolutions, adopts the annual budget, approves financing, and authorizes contracts on behalf of the Town. They also appoint the Town Manager, Town Attorney and Town Clerk.
