PUBLIC COMMENT Chief Melvin Montgomery of the Woodford County Fire Protection District addressed concerns regarding criticism of the fire department, the tax rate, ISO rating, and SPGE compliance. He clarified the issues and emphasized the department’s ongoing efforts and growth. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Judge/Executive Kay called for any additions, corrections, or amendments to the minutes of the Special and Regular Meetings of August 11, 2026. Hearing none, these minutes stood approved as presented. COMMITTEE REPORTS The Ordinance Committee met prior to the meeting with all members in attendance and discussed nuisance and code enforcement. Parks and Rec. — Model Airfield Tony Hardin, representing the Woodford County Aero Modelers, presented a proposal to relocate the existing model airfield at Falling Springs Park to a larger, more suitable site within the park property. The proposed location would provide safer open-air flight space, direct access from Tyrone Pike, and opportunities for community events and flight demonstrations. The Parks Board unanimously approved a Memorandum of Understanding supporting the relocation, subject to Fiscal Court approval. The MOU maintains public access, requires AMA and FAA compliance, allows flight operations to be suspended during park events, and provides the County flexibility to relocate or terminate the airfield with 30 days’ notice.
